Do you want to learn on-page SEO techniques? Then this is the guide for you.

Google always provides High-Quality results to its users, when they search on Google search. This is the main reason for to wide use & popularity of the Google search engine.

Google is a Search Engine, not the whole web or the Internet.

A search Engine is a Combination of algorithms that filter and show data according to the user’s requirements.

Google always changes its algorithms to improve & provide more quality, to its users. Now Question is, how does Google read or know about content or topics?? I mean, what a User wants and shows results related to the user’s query.

Every search engine has robots, called bots or crawlers. These crawlers reach sites or web pages to find content related to a user’s query or search term. These bots or crawlers read your page’s Meta Tags to know about the topics of that page. Then according to quality, links, DA, etc. provide ranks to different Sites or pages in SERP.

A higher rank means Higher the Quality of a Web page or Site, in different ways. For that reason every webmaster does SEO. SEO means Search Engine OptimizationSEO starts with Quality.

  • Quality in your Content
  • Quality in Your Webpage & Site

If you have these things on your site you will probably rank first in the Google search.

SEO increases your site’s visibility, indexing & search engines can reach or find your content or site easily. So in the results, you rank higher in Google.

Ranking on Google depends upon 2000+ factors. In other words, Google considers 2000+ Factors to rank a Site in SERP.

But In a simple way, Google’s Ranking Depends upon three Factors;

  • Quality of your Site
  • Trust/ Popularity
  • Search Intent

To Increase the Quality Of your Site, you have the need to do On-Page SEO.

What is On-Page SEO?

On-page Seo is the part of SEO that improves the quality of your web page by improving the different page-level elements like content, title, etc. it is the basic & most important part of SEO.

NOTE: there are two factors almost the same so don’t be confused with them;

On-site SEO– This is for the whole or Entire Site. It is Done with Permalink Structure, Sitemap, etc. On-site means for the whole site.
On-Page SEO– it is done on a page of your site. It includes Headings, improving content, media, & page intent, etc.

How to do On-Page SEO?

Post Title

Write an attractive, Descriptive title for your post. Use a targeted keyword in your post title. It should be in 50 characters with spaces. Try to use the keyword at the start of the title. Use the keyword in the title only for one time.

Heading Tags

Always use heading tags in your content to write headings & subheadings & special points.

Use the H1 tag to write the post title only & don’t repeat it. In WordPress, the post title is already in the H1 tag. So don’t use or repeat it.

Use H2 & H3 tags for subheading & sub-subheading respectively to write subheadings.

Meta Tags

These tags provide information about your site to Google. Write descriptive, well-structured Meta tags for your site. It should be in 165 words with spaces.

Internal & External Linking

Interlink your all posts with each other. Give a related post’s link to another post. It will help your readers to read more content on your site and spend more time.

It also helps you by providing more information about your post to Google.

You can use external links that should be relevant to your post to provide more information to your readers or visitors.

External linking helps you to get more trust from Google that you have useful information for your readers.

But link to trusted and well established sites only to give external links in your post.

Social Share

Place social sharing buttons for your post, and encourage your readers to share your content on social media. Social presence is a big factor in Google SEO.

Page Speed

Make sure your site does not take too much time to load. If it happens then it is a big issue in ranking.

Now Google considers it as a factor. Use the Google Page Speed Checker tool.

Your site should be loaded in 2 seconds. It helps you to improve your ranking & engage more audience with your site.

Professional Design

Your site should be neat & clean designed with a professional look according to your niche or functionality. There should be no errors or no broken links on your site. your site should be mobile-friendly

Other Points Related to On-Page SEO

  • Use your targeted keyword in the title & permalink.
  • Use your targeted keyword in the first paragraph.
  • Your targeted keyword in the Image alt text.
  • Use LSI keywords in the body & H2 or H3.
  • Compress images before use to reduce load time. don’t use large images in your post

These are the proven techniques to use. Anyone can have his/her web page SEO optimized by using these methods. Onpage SEO is the first part of Search Engine Optimization,  But remember over SEO can penalize you from Google. So don’t try to do over SEO. Or something which is not sure to you. I hope you get your answer….!!

          Hello @Vikash
H tags are used for to increase the readability and keep in right format in sequence instead of to make it beautiful. for example, h1 for the title, h2 for sub title or subheading, h3 for sub-sub heading and so on

      Hi San,

Harpreet here is talking about Meta descriptions. Very good and appealing Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions still help you in rankings. And in my opinion they will always be part of ranking factors in SEO.

About Meta keywords, yes they will not help in anyways in Google Rankings but in my opinion still other search engines like Bing is dependent on them so there is no harm in having them used in proper way without wasting much time behind them.

  4. Hi Harpreet,

While the ratio of on-page to off-page SEO differ based on the keyword, the site, the age, trust & authority of the pages or collective pages within a website; the bottom line is,SEO requires a balance of the two. So offpage factors is as important as onpage SEO.

    1. Hello @Prajith
Yes! Both the factors are important. but I think if you do On-page SEO in the right way then it can reduce your off-page SEO efforts…..! and sometimes you can rank without a backlink…..:)
